San Venanzo – Civitella – Marsciano

The connections between San Venanzo and Marsciano were ensured by two routes. One of these was passing through Rotecastello and San Bartolomeo, while the one recorded in the Gregorian Cadastre is no longer viable for the stretch that goes from Madonna dei Monti (the church just above the junction for Civitella) to Marsciano. We, therefore, propose a variant that does not differ much from the route on the map.

It mostly follows the highway and leaves it when you meet the crossroad for Civitella dei Conti on the left. Reached the magnificent Castle of Civitella, the route continues downhill but it is highly recommended to enter the alley that goes inside the castle, next to the Church, to enjoy beautiful panoramic views and the charm of the place.

Continuing downhill along the asphalt road, you pass the toponym Case Nucci and always going east (thus leaving the asphalt road which bends sharply to the north), take a ridge road located between some farmhouses; at the end of those on the left, go northwards and down along the edge of the cultivated field (the road no longer exists), you will arrive on the plain and along the Fersinone you will reach the main road that leads to Marsciano towards southeast.
