San Venanzo – Collelungo

The Gregorian Land Registry records a route that, after reaching Rotecastello, passes the wooded area to the east and reaches the current Collelungo – Marsciano road, crosses it and, after passing the Fosso della Fornace, goes directly to Collelungo. This path is no longer viable as it is partially out of the woods and man has erased its traces.

The route that we propose follows for a stretch the same that leads to Ripalvella, then it leaves it and continue towards Collelungo.

From San Venanzo you reach the Volcanological Park (the didactic ring created by the Municipality right in the heart of the two ancient volcanoes is very interesting) and continue following the only existing road. You pass a farmhouse with an adjacent workshop and you reach a narrow asphalt road; you cross it going up to the right for about ten meters and descend along a beautiful ancient road until you reach the Faena stream, cross it, and then continue uphill along a wide path sometimes eroded by rainwater, uphill, towards the South. Always straight, you will reach a fence that you will skirt on the left and, going around the fence, to a dirt road that will lead you to the Colli Verdi farm (oil and wine production and holiday apartments). To the left you will take the gravel road, skirt the farmhouse with swimming pool and, after about 100 meters from this farmhouse, you will leave the gravel road going down to the right. Once you reach the ditch, you will follow it for a few tens of meters towards the valley until you meet a ford, pass it, following the track that runs alongside another ditch. This track goes around a recently restored farmhouse (Podere Migliavacche) and follows the road which, after the farmhouse, becomes a well-kept gravel road. The gate you find to block the road must be bypassed on the left. You will reach the asphalt road and, continuing towards the valley (east) and following the road directions, you will reach Collelungo.
